Built-Ins / Bookcases
Shelving that holds books, not just decor
Built-in bookcases, library walls, window seats and floating shelves in solid wood, engineered so a full shelf of hardcovers does not sag in five years.

What we build
Pieces in this collection
Books are heavier than most shelving is built for. Span, thickness and material all matter, and a 900 mm shelf in a thin panel will bow long before you notice you caused it.
We size spans and shelf thickness to the load, then build the case in solid wood and stable panel so it stays straight, whether it holds a library or a collection of pottery.
Built-in bookcases
Floor to ceiling cases scribed to the wall, with a base and crown that tie into your trim.
Library walls
Full room installations with ladder rails where the ceiling height justifies one.
Window seats
Bench seating with storage beneath, flanked by shelving on either side.
Floating shelves
Thick solid wood shelves with concealed steel supports or visible iron brackets.
Fireplace flanks
Matched shelving units either side of a hearth, closed below and open above.
Display cabinetry
Glass fronted or lit cases for collections that need protection from dust.

Before you commission
What we work through together
Span and sag
We keep book bearing spans short enough for the shelf thickness, or add a hidden steel spine where a long open span is essential.
Adjustable or fixed
Fixed shelves are stronger and cleaner looking; adjustable gives flexibility. Most of our cases use a mix.
Trim integration
Base and crown are matched to the room's existing profiles so the case reads as original to the house.
Lighting
Integrated LED strips or picture lights, wired before installation and dimmable.

Questions
Answers before you get in touch
If yours is not here, ask us directly. We answer every inquiry personally.
- Will the shelves sag under books?
- Not the way we build them. Shelf thickness and span are calculated for the load, and we will tell you if a design needs a support you did not plan for.
- Can bookcases be painted to match my walls?
- Yes. We spray in the shop to your chosen colour, which gives a far better finish than brushing on site.
- Do you build around radiators, vents or outlets?
- Yes. We locate everything during the site measure and build around it, keeping vents functional and outlets accessible.
- Are built-ins fixed to the house permanently?
- They are anchored to framing and finished into the trim, so they stay with the home. That is usually a selling feature.

Reviews
What Saskatchewan homeowners say
“Our bunk room sleeps six now and the kids love it. They worked around an awkward ceiling and made it look intentional.”
“The mudroom is the hardest working part of our house. Boots, backpacks, hockey gear, all of it finally has a home.”
“They measured, drew it up, and built exactly what we talked about. No surprises, no chasing anyone for updates.”
