The brief
A busy household with three kids in sports wanted an entry that could take boots and bags, plus a living room wall that finally looked finished.
The challenge
Both spaces had out of square walls and existing trim that the owners wanted to keep. Every carcass had to be scribed to the room rather than dropped in and shimmed.
How we built it
- Bench height and cubby widths set around real gear, not standard sizes
- Solid wood faces where hands and boots make contact
- Shelving positioned around the existing fireplace surround
- Cable routing built into the media wall before install
The result
Two rooms that work harder and read as part of the house rather than as cabinets that were added later.
“The mudroom is the hardest working part of our house. Boots, backpacks, hockey gear, all of it finally has a home.”
